Dennis,

Read all the posts from this week with PCanywhere in the subject line.

I have been experimenting this week with remote connections and have found
that the software is the critical issue when trying to connect remotely. I
have tried Reachout, PCAnywhere, VNC Viewer by RealVNC, Remote Administrator
and Netop Remote Control. I know Sunbelt Software has a package and then
there are third party options like "gotomypc.com" --> (got the third party
info from Bob Simms and he says it works great).

Any way as for today I have tested all the options in know about as of now,
but the last two over a 100mb network first and none worked better the Nero
option. Then set up and ran this thru a mind spring dial up connection at
56.3 and it worked great. Transfer rates were within mile seconds of the
original 100mb network speed even over a dial up to a T1. I had these two
computers a Sony Vio Laptop to Mindspring dial up thru the Internet to an
AT&T Managed Router thru a Watchgaurd Firebox to Our NT servers and Trend
Virus Check to 1 100mb switch to a 100mb network card and finally to a P3
Atahalon. Watching these two computers interact side by side there was very
little delay in screen refreshing rates between the two.

All these options allow you a trail period to test with. It is best to try
over the network 1st and then over a dialup, cable or DSL. This allows you
the option of checking the different software option thoroughly.

Also if you are using TCP/IP remember each software provider uses different
default ports.

Any other questions feel free to email me for contact info at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Have done a lot of leg work on this over the last few
days.

The site below is the software I am the most satisfied with. Bill Downall
gave me the information on this and recommended it to me.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Looking for the weak link

RBase 6.5++

I have a customer who is using a T1 (dial up?) connection to run our app
remotely on a Win95 PC. Performance is extremely SLOW. I'm assuming the
weak link is the speed of the T1, but it could also be ???

TIA,

Dennis
