I use a utility fm PC Magazine (www.zdnet.com) called Printnow. I think
it's still available on their website, although I can't swear that it's
been modified for XP or that mod's for XP would be required - I think
they were for Win2K. Anyway, it was one of their learning examples,
multi-threading I think, written (perhaps) in Delphi. Well, it's small
- I load it at startup - and it just waits for either [PrtSCr] or
[CTRL-PrtScr], popping up its dialog box, then the standard print dialog
box, for dumping the bitmap stored in the clipboard, thus making it
quite easy to send the screen contents to hardcopy. There are some
options, such as scaling, etc. I have been using it since late '97
where it was being run in Windows and O/S2 by the HR department of a
Fortune 100 manufacturer. They were doing "green-screen" 3270
emulations and found that it was often quicker/easier to dump the
current CICS screen to their local network printer rather than generate
some sort of (often big) report to the mainframe-hosted printer. Even
today, my too-young-to-know-very-much-that-is-useful Graduate Assistants
(MIS & CS) are impressed ...
