In theory, if you never snafued (is that a word?) your computer in any way, an upgrade 
should work, but reality is
different than that.  Very few machines get through a couple years without 
uninstalling/installing, notwithstanding
people bringing (against company wishes I should hope) their own slopware into the 
mix.  End result is a registry
fraught with potholes and a misbehaving machine that you are going to roll all its' 
troubles forward into an upgrade?
