The MS Windows download for service pack 2 at
75-266mb. Is this necessary?

Dennis,

Bear in mind I am no longer doing any serious
programming, just occassional tweeks and such, which
gives me a little time to indulge in the odd "game".

Having looked at all of the programmes which MS say
will no longer work as now with SP2 (and some
programmes/games have meant a reasonable investment) I
last week decided to switch browsers from IE to
Mozilla Firefox.

The Windows version download is just 4.7Mb in size.
(The other options are Mac and Linux)
It is equally as fast as IE.
It has every option which I have ever used on IE.
Has an good intuative feel to it - good clear icons.
All Toolbars and Menus can be completely customised.
Google is integrated within the Toolbar.
It provides the option of preventing all Pop-Ups.
Also provides the option to pick up all history,
favorites and such from IE as you run the install.
A Help option is dedicated to those familiar with IE.

You can have both IE and Firefox installed, use either
then make your final choice as to which will be your
prime browser when you have compared both.

I do not intend to delete IE in the forceeable... just
not use it.

So far I am delighted with Firefox. It is a well
rounded product and does not force me to change my
current security which has so far kept me free from
all nasties. I use Norton Anti-Virus Pro 2004 and
Zone Alarm (which will not run under SP2).

My Very Best to you,

David
