There is no prettier time to be walking rolling trails and in the parks of Western PA than late October. But you have not signed up yet!!!
http://www.benbash.com/rgeo/imthere.php (By the way, all the format restrictions are now gone from the DB and PHP. It'll work fine. Sorry. :( ) Cache once, or more throughout the weekend! Monday October 25, right after the conference ends I'll gather the team and we'll make our way to both RBTI HQ and the Airport. We'll even stop downtown if time permits. All people who can navigate a sidewalk are welcome, regardless of ability or equipment. Your spouse, or your cousin who lives in Pittsburgh, or other guests are welcome to join us, as long as they do not mind geocaching with a bunch of database geeks. Sign them up! Your signup is not a binding commitment. It will help us plan a route that will work well for the group and departure times. Email me if you have any questions. Ben Fogt (aka Bjorn74, hijacker of Bill's great text!) I'll do a quick explanation for those who might never have heard about this easy access Recreational Activity, Sport, and Hobby (RASH). Geocaching is a game that is played with the US Government's Global Positioning System. People all over the world use GPS Receivers to get approximate coordinates for a container (cache) in which contains a log book and stuff to trade for. People log into various listing sites on the web and get the coordinates. With the coordinates, some clues and a little sleuthing, people find the cache, sign the log book and sometimes trade items. For some it's a game about how many finds they can get (I'm pretty medium in the ranks at 429 finds and 39 hides as of today). Others use it as an excuse to see parts of cities and parks they'd never find another reason to visit or even just for exercise. We'll have plenty of GPS equipment for any sized group that signs up. I'll pick out some fairly simple geocaches to hit around Monroeville for Monday afternoon and then a route to the airport for those who'd like to cache to their flights and those who'd like to see more of Pittsburgh. I don't think there are any geocachers in the R:Base community other than those who've gone out with me, but if anyone with experience wants to join, I've already invited a few local geocachers to help out. More are always welcome. Some Geocaching Web Sites: www.geocaching.com http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/ www.cogeocaching.org (My local Group's Site) See you all in a couple weeks!
