Hey Karen,

I think i might know what this is!

I have a toshiba sattelite laptop w/ XP pro on it as well.

i installed linux on it and had TERRIBLE problems with the keyboard, if i pressed a key it wouldnt always catch it right away, and then when it did catch it after a few seconds, it would act as if i was still holding it down (REALLY sucked when i was trying to do work and it just deleted everything i typed instead of the 1 letter i wanted it to). Sometimes if you tapped the key this was happning too it would get it's "keystates" fixed and be ok again, other times it just went until it didnt feel like going anymore.  This never happened in windows at all, very anoying.

I did some research and it turns out that in windows it has a special keyboard driver to handle the toshiba's broken keyboard design (gotta love a bandaid instead of a fix eh?) and that there was no equivelant in linux/bsd/etc so i was kinda screwed in linux.

Im betting you're running into the same problem in dos as i was in linux, but maybe not...

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Sorta Off Topic: Incredibly slow keyboard

A client running 6.5++ DOS on a Toshiba laptop, Win XP Pro.  When doing any typing in DOS, you might not see your keystroke for 10 seconds (worse than the slowest PC Anywhere connection you ever saw!).  RBWin works fine.   Anti-spyware doesn't show anything.

When I run 6.5++ DOS here on an older Toshiba laptop, Win XP Pro, you can see the tiniest of delay in the responsiveness of the keys, but nothing like what I see at her place!

Anything we can do to speed up the DOS responsiveness?

Karen
