The choose statement treats the returned value as
text. So instead try this.

This should be simple...easy and low brain power,
but so am i and this has me puzzled.
My user types a last name....R:Base then searches
the list to find a count of like names.
If there is one, or none everything is fine and the
program runs flawlessly.
If more than one, I have a list generated for the
user to choose the correct person.
Using the code below, I get an "ERROR - Your value
does not have the same type or scale as your variable vidnum (2178)"
The code continues to run and calls the expected
form with the expected results. (edit using form where idnum =
.vidnum)

integers, lookupname is a computed column all others are text.
Any one see a problem here? I can't find my
