This happened to one of my clients several years ago. Someone broke into their office over the weekend and stole their computers and their backup tapes which were sitting on their desk.

All my watermelons are gone! I don't have a seed one and no income either!! It was my best crop!! OH MAY!!!! What if this happen to one of your client's computer system! Server, SNA and work stations GONE!!!! Those of you who have that type of client relations should be aware of what could happen! I had a client who had a break in! The thieves took every work station, Network Storage hardware and the server! The only thing that saved the client was the off site data storage setup for the network applications data! In Katrina's wake many companies lost everything including the building!!! I know this is not a Rbase issue but Disater Response Plans are needed to address even for thoses inland! Never think it won't happen to your client! Because it will and at what cost!!!! Insurance will cover the hardware issues but most of the data and current information could be lost! Just wanted to let thoses who don't have one should have a plan in place!! Remember "In a second everything could be gone!!!!" The problem I see are the small companies between 2 and 50 million GSV, they are exposed!!! Thank you for letting me vent about this matter!!! I could have gotten between 3.99 and 5.99 each for the melons that I had in the field!!! Hope everyone has a fun weekend!! Be Safe everyone!! Has anyone tried to link a tablet style, wireless computer to a regular R:base database on a server (in the same office building)? What are the connectivity issues, software handshaking, etc, as well as reliability and speed, if any, concerns? Thanks. I think that is the direction I want to go, if feasable. w.stacy, o.d. --- RBASE-L ================================================ TO POST A MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS: Send a plain text email to [email protected] (Don't use any of these words as your Subject: INTRO, SUBSCRIBE, UNSUBSCRIBE, SEARCH, REMOVE, SUSPEND, RESUME, DIGEST, RESEND, HELP) ================================================ TO SEE MESSAGE POSTING GUIDELINES: Send a plain text email to [email protected] In the message SUBJECT, put just one word: INTRO ================================================ TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a plain text email to [email protected] In the message SUBJECT, put just one word: UNSUBSCRIBE ================================================ TO SEARCH ARCHIVES: Send a plain text email to [email protected] In the message SUBJECT, put just one word: SEARCH-n (where n is the number of days).
