Hi

I have about 100 offices using my app in 6.1 runtime.
I am working on converting it to 7.5 but I am not done
yet. About 50 are networked mostly peer to peer (I
know, not good) without problems.

One office is having big problems with their network.
It was set up by a MS certified network guy, so I
assume it was done right.

He said the drops were done by someone else and they
do not have as much slack as he likes but does not
think that is the problem. He said the cat 5 cables
are closer than 3ft to fluorescent lights but thinks
that should cause constant problems instead of
occasional problems.

When they can not connect to either computer they see
a .vlogo where I display the version. I look it up in
a table, so it looks like Rbase can't find the data
folder. Which is strange when it happens to the
server (1st computer) because the folder is on the C
drive.

The 1st computer is the "server" 2nd the workstation.
Sometimes they can connect to the db on both
computers, sometimes they can't connect to the db on
the second computer. They see the .vlogo and you
can't do a edit all from table..... at a fake R>.

I am having them trap the errors to see what is going
on.

Below is what he says is happening. Any
suggestions???
thanks Marc

First 3 times today we tried to bring PinnSoft up on
2nd computer while it
was active on 1st computer it failed. We got out of
PinnSoft on 1st
computer, brought it up on 2nd computer, then were
able to bring it up
successfully on 1st computer. Then got out of
Pinnsoft on 2nd computer,
brought it up successfully on 2nd computer 3 times
consecutively with it
still active on 1st computer. This is the same thing
we did last Thur
morning to get Pinnsoft up successfully on both
computers simultaneously.
Prior to last Thur morning, this sequence had rarely
been successful. I
think Paul did some additional mods Fri morning, but
access so far today has
functioned same as it did Thur.
