I have all of my ESC code sequences defined in the body of the report. In some cases the font size changes bigger/smaller while printing each page.
If I understand you correctly, if some junk (control characters) is being printed on the page then they are not being recognized by the printer.
I think I'm going to give this one back to the customer. If the report prints fine on an HP laser or inkjet printer, then either they have to find out why it doesn't work on their HP compatible printer or get an HP.
(I like to think my development time is worth more than a printer.)
