Thank you all for wonderful tips.
I have opted to get the total number of records before printing reports.
And pass the number and the total number of pages this report prints to the report as Variables and print in the part of the report heading so that the client could determine immediately when she sees the preview of the report whether to send it to the Network printer or not. Before running report, I also display the information on the screen so that she can decide before running report.
For now she is happy with this solution.

I used count(*) feature for this and worked well.
I should look into Ron's technique, it sounds really clever.

Thanks.

Aiko -

It looks like you are referring to a report in R:BASE version 6.5. If that
is correct, one option is to print it to PDF - maybe the user doesn't even
really need to send it to the printer but could send it via email instead
... You could get a product like pdfFactory for your client, set up
pdfFactory as printer just before printing this report. When a report
prints to it, the user has the option to print to a real printer or to view
or save it as a PDF document.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the conference and found it educational!

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Re: 2006 Conference Package

Dear Razzak and all,

Thank you for encouraging me to attend the conference.
I thought I was only one in the Maryland and Dc area to work in the Rbase
platform.
I was about to give up on it.

I am inspired by so many good people who do superb work for the clients. I
should go on to discover new things with the new 7.6 version.

By the way, when I got home and went to see my clients, they had list of
things to complain about their system that had been give to me to support. i

tried to fix and adjust the programs to tailor their needs.
One thing I need to think before I jump in to do it.

The client doesn't know when she run report, amount of pages she has for the

particular run. she needs to know if the load is a lot and nee to run print
it later so that it doesn't put everyone's job on hold.
By printing how many record exists for the job on the header, that will do
the trick. The total record number is printed at the end of the report in
the footer frame. What is the best way to achieve this? To calculate the
number of record and pass it on to the report? oror within the report
designer, is there anything I can use to achieve this?

Unfortunately, the preview screen (6.5 V) the report allows the user to see
is limited to the first page unless I missed something to change this into
scrollable preview.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Look forward to going up to PA for 7.6 training session.
Thank you.
