I am curious on how C/S works. Does it replace compiler or
works in conjunction with compiler??
I wish I was at the conference to see all the new goodies.
Dan,
Thanks for asking.
R:BASE Client/Server Intranet Edition (C/S:I) is available
and is being used as a private pre-purchase beta since
December 1, 2006.
FYI, there are three (3) components of R:BASE C/S:I 7.6:
01. R:BASE Server (RBGServer76Svc.exe) to run as Service
R:BASE Server (RBGServer76.exe) to run the server
manually
02. R:BASE Server Console (RBGServerConsole76.exe)
03. R:BASE Client (RBGClient76.exe)
The R:BASE Server is licensed as an UNLIMITED version for
a single server supporting an unlimited number of client
connections. The R:BASE Server is used to manage databases
and applications, as well as client connections.
The R:BASE Server Console is also licensed as an UNLIMITED
version to manage databases, applications, and client
connections, as well as to monitor the R:BASE Server when
physical access to the server itself is not possible.
The R:BASE Client, for each workstation, is licensed per seat.
Complete documentation for each component is also available.
R:BASE C/S:I is intended for medium to large size corporations
running MS Windows Server with the "need for speed" across a
Local Area Network (Intranet). R:Compiler is intended for
running compiled executables for secure and unlimited access
applications. On the other hand, R:Compiler can also be used
to distribute your custom applications. In this scenario,
R:BASE C/S:I would not be beneficial.
