Yea, I wondered about that. Actually, I am being pulled, kicking & screaming, into the 7.5 windows based Rbase. There is so much about windows that I get stomach pains just thinking about it. I am sure that my neighbors have heard me cursing Gates late nights...
I don't have the luxury of having an IT department to call every time it fails. I can do circles around DOS but I am not interested in chasing the problems that Gates should (should have) fixed. Maybe someone can alleviate some of my grief. How much about windows will I need to eventually have to learn to make this conversion run and to keep it running? Here is the background: Back in the 80s, I took a college course in my Computer Science degree program and it dealt with databases. The course revolved around Rbase. At that time, my brother was making everyone in his family crazy every time taxes were due, paper work everywhere. Eventually, I set him up with a system of reports and data entry to help him out and I have been married to the system ever since (-: It is clearly not an accounting system as such but a method of keeping invoices, parts, labor and some superficial accounts receivable/payable in order etc. I have written a lot of great SQL and it is an elaborate set up. We have gone through some harrowing experiences through the years. He is almost ready to hire someone to take over my work if he could find someone here in central Connecticut to do the work. Thoughts appreciated. Steve -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of A. You need to purchase the Multi-User LAN Pack licenses in order to use your single person operation R:BASE as a Multi-User mode.
