I am having problems opening database on a notebook that I have
copied from a machine that is running as an RBG 6.1a server. The
notebook is not connected to the server, it just has a copy of the
database files from two different databases. The error message I
get when trying to connect to the databases is "The database is
currently unavailable--it is probably open with MULTI set OFF."
- Preferences show the correct path to SERVER6.RBG and to RBASE.CFG.
- Settings show Multi-User ON and the RBASE.CFG reflects this
setting. - RBADMIN shows one user active. I've tried deactivating
this user and removing it; I've changed the user name in the
RBASE.CFG file. RBADMIN reports the current state, but nothing
fixes the problem.
- A 5-user LAN Pack bump was installed. - RScope reports "This
database is currently open by another user. Do you wish to open the
database in multi-user mode" Replying yes gens a RScope error, "e
which makes it unavailable to you. Press any key..."
The RBG 6.1a client was not running at the time the message was
displayed. Error code 7.
- The notebook is not attached to a network.
- I've restarted the client, RScope and RBADMIN many times. - There
is only one instance each of the RBASE.CFG and RBASE.INI files.
I can open CONCOMP on the notebook. On a different workstation
connected to my server I can open the two databases that won't open
on the notebook.
Is there an archive for this list?
Brian,
Check the file properties of all four files (.RB1-.RB4) and make sure
that they are NOT +R "Read Only".
This is a typical case when files are copied from a CD.
Hope that helps!
