Hi Troy,

I've had clients who experienced problems with the server slowing down when the second, and subsequent, users connected. All were using XP-Pro clients. At one point I thought we had the solution. A client changed tech support people. During a service call they fixed the problem, according to them, by turning off optimistic file locking. This did not work at other sites using the same application.

A few months later the client with the solution called with the same problem, but the prior fix would not work. In the end the client's tech concluded a Windows Server update had probably made file sharing with R:Base incompatible. I had no way to disprove it. This site and one other chose to go to one of my competitors for lack of a solution.

I have a client using R:base 6.5 ++ for DOS upgrading their network from
Novell to Win 2003 Server Rel 2.

It is working, but really slow. I remember other having this issue in the
past, but do not remember the solution.

Thanks,

Troy
