Many thanks, Razzak.

I think that you may have hit the nail on the head with the associated table name:

I have been trying out the (very useful) new (to me) option of the On Before Design Action and creating a temporary view so that one form can be designed for multiple uses.

The temporary view seems to be correctly associated since [F11] then click Columns then [OK] instantly restores them. There is nothing else on the form other than navigation buttons (first, last, exit, etc.).

The form runs perfectly as well. The only difference is that I am creating the view, at least for now, it my command file rather than the On Before Start EEP to allow me to vary the data displayed without having to edit the form for every temporary variation. However, I will double check that all the names match properly - just in case.

A new PROPERTY TABLE <formtablename> 'RestoreOrderBy' option would indeed be a nice addition! Do you want me to to request it properly or would it not be unreasonable to guess that I am probably already too late?

Again, many thanks, the additional features in the DB Grid are making a wonderful improvement for me - particularly in standardising the look and feel of things that used not be so suitable for displaying with a form.

Regards,
Alastair.

Alastair,

While in form designer, right click on the DB Grid control
in question and verify the associated "Table Name".

While customizing and selecting the DB Grid Columns, make
sure that you have selected the appropriate columns.

DB Grid Control | Properties | Columns

You may also delete the existing DB control and then place
the control again with appropriate table/columns.

Also, is there any way to restore the default sort after
having clicked on one or more of the column titles to
sort the data? I've tried REFRESHing and CLOSing and then
OPENing the dataset but the sorted column remains marked
and the sort unchanged.

A new PROPERTY TABLE <formtablename> 'RestoreOrderBy' option
would be a nice addition to existing table PROPERTY commands.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
