First of all -- thank you in advance for any help that I can get!
I am updating a Database/Application that I completed in 1992 in
v. 4.5++. (it was begun in version 3!) Since that time, I have
done very little database work so I am really, painfully rusty!
I have to have this semi-operational by next Friday so my
apologies if I inundate this list with questions over the next
few days!
My Database has been upgraded and my Forms are operational (ugly,
but I'll deal with that later!). I'm working my way through my
Reports now. I haven't decided for sure, but I am leaning
towards just rewriting the Application, making use of my older
file snippets.
I was going to add a new table and make one of it's keys a
Foreign key. That's when I discovered there are no keys in my
database. I don't know if I did that deliberately 15 years ago
or if maybe it wasn't an option then, or I just didn't know any
better, but instead of keys, I have multiple Indexes on various
tables. So, what's the best way to handle this? Should I just
add keys? Do I then discard the Indexes? Do I keep both? Will
adding keys make any of my forms or reports do odd things?
thanks again,
Lin
