Razzak,

YES! That takes care of it even with the default LAYOUT ON. I know that what we do out here is just the TIP of the R:Iceberg and I love getting answers from the edge! Now I can move on. Thank you so much!

For me, it's all in the details. Your first solution SET LAYOUT OFF works
just fine, so I have added it to my RBASE.DAT file. However, your second
solution DELETE ROWS FROM SYS_LAYOUTS has no effect on the issue. The
Roster table continues to revert to some unseen default MS Sans Serif 8.
As long as SET LAYOUT OFF works for me, I am comfortable with the result
and merely curious as to why I am unable to rid the Roster table of that
invisible default.

Fred,

Try one more thing.

CONNECT dbname
DELETE ROWS FROM SYS_LAYOUTS3

Notice the "3" at the end of SYS_LAYOUTS3.

That should take care of all saved table layouts using R:BASE 7.x and higher.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
