Hello Bill

I work more on the SPSS than the RBase end of things in our shop; so please
bear with my lack of clarification regarding "data" and "structure" as it
pertains to the database.

Using RBase 7.6, we are able to use the file gateway to successfully export
data into SPSS V 15. I use the "launch application" (SPSS) option, and RBase
creates a spreadsheet-look SPSS data file (.sav) with column headings of the
RBase field names and rows containing row data from the database.

I have successfully exported data of all types and field sizes in this way.
SPSS 15 has no problems of which I'm aware either handling the exported data
file or saving it.

We formerly used SPSS 11.5 and it was unable to handle the RBase export. In
the interim we exported to Excel 2000 and read that file into SPSS 11.5 with no
difficulty.

Hope this helps. I can answer other questions as necessary.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Question on SPSS Export via File Gateway

I have a client who has SPSS Version 12 and Version 16.

Using Rbase Turbo8 I exported data from a table using the SPSS Format
(*.sav) using the File Gateway.

The question I have is; Does the SPSS export format export only data or data
and structure. I think the answer is data only but I need clarification.

In either case, Version 12 and Verison 16 was unable to load the SAV file I
exported from Turbo8.

Any help would be appreciated.
