Wow, I just noticed that I reported the DB size incorrect. After the second
reload the database shrunk from 925 meg to 197 meg. Still a big difference
with major improvement in performance.

I'd like to know too. I pack passwords every day to prevent this
performance killer from biting me again.

One of my clients with a 7.5 database had the RB2 file expand very quickly.
Logins slowed to a snail's pace and the database became sluggish. A reload
made very little difference. After further investigation I found that the
sys_passwords table had grown to a huge size. I then packed passwords and
did another reload. After the second reload the database shrunk from 925K
to 97K.

I am curious to know what causes the SYS_PASSWORD table to grow so rapidly?
Anyone know? I am beginning to think that I should pack passwords every
day.
