Gary,

We use PSC Falcon scanners with WinCE embedded, which then runs a Citrix
client back to a Citrix server, where we run an R:BASE application in
200x320. Now, this is probably a lot more hardware than you want/need, but
it is the long answer to say "Yes, it is certainly possible." It all
depends on how far you want to take it.

When our users pick up the scan gun, they log into the R:BASE application
and enjoy the availability of live data. They receive raw materials
inventory, move it to warehouse locations, relieve raw materials inventory,
move work-in-process inventory to warehouse locations, move finished goods
inventory to warehouse locations, ship finished goods inventory, and take
three separate physical inventories. All this is done in real time, live.
However, the hardware investment is substantial.

Now it is conceivable that in a smaller environment you could use one of
these same scanners and run an RDP client back to a server and accomplish
the same thing. You would need the scanner, plus enough RF hardware to
cover your facility.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Handheld Scanning Computers

Hello All,

I am working on an Rbase 7.6 app to run a live (Real Time) stock inventory
and equipment Check in/out. I want to be able to use a small wireless
handheld. The handheld needs to be able to connect to the Rbase app. Is
this possible?

Thanks

Gary Randall
