Generally speaking, are we not all driven by errors? When we create a statement that must be proven true or false, is it not the result of that question that propels us forward? The simple act of capturing the result of a query gives us the next step in our quest towards the truth. Sometimes I feel bad to know that what I have asked may result in an error, conveniently made invisible by Set Error Messages Off. Still, I need that error in order to proceed towards the truth. In the recent Non-Programmers' Training in Monroeville, Razzak demonstrated how to test whether or not a database was already connected before issuing a command to connect that database. I think that we all owe R:Base this courtesy. I find that my programming now takes into account asking a question before demanding an answer.
