Look in the Windows help system for "messenger."  It is located at Start /
All Programs / Accessories on my XP system.  It isn't on my Vista Home
Premium machine; probably requires Business or Ultimate.

Hmmm. This actually sounds a little interesting.
When I look at NET SEND it says that users
must be running Messenger.

Do you know where that is?
