Claudine,

The RBL files only need to be located in the following locations:

. local workstation's RBG8 program directory
. RBG8 compiled application directory

The RBL does not need to be located in the server's program directory,
unless there is some automated SMTP email processing that the server
performs in order to send automated email with R:Mail 3.0.

In the configuration dialog, be sure to turn on the log file. If you
continue to have problems, include the most recent contents (bottom)
of the log file for the last transmission in your next reply.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I had followed all instructions but I
hadn't put the RMAIL30_80.RBL and RMAIL30.CFG in the server's C:\RBTI\RBG8
folder.

So, if I now understand correctly, both files need to be placed in the
C:\RBTI\RBG8 folder of the server and all workstations which have a full
install of RBG8 and in the server's database folder for the users of the
compiled application.

I can now see a progress screen and a log. I still don't receive my test
message at the other end but I'm hopeful to fix that as soon as I understand
what I'm doing wrong. I'll try a simple, non-HTML file to begin with.
There are a lot of places to mess up in example 4.

Claudine,

After creating or altering your SMTP Server Accounts, the information
will be stored, and encrypted, within the R:Mail configuration file,
RMail30.CFG. The default file location for the configuration file is
C:\RBTI\RMail30 whether you used the operating system control panel
or the R:Mail installation folder to configure R:Mail.

In your R:Mail installation directory, there are three (3) different
R:Mail 3.0 Plugins for you to use, based on the version of R:BASE you
are running.

  RMail30_75.RBL
  RMail30_76.RBL
  RMail30_80.RBL

As it is the universal recommendation to place R:BASE Plugin files
(.RBL) into your R:BASE program directory, the same applies for
R:Mail 3.0. This approach will simplify using the R:Mail Plugin,
without specifying the location and path.

In regards to R:Mail 3.0, when you place the .RBL Plugin into your
R:BASE program directory (i.e. C:\RBTI\RBG76), the R:Mail 3.0
configuration file must also be moved with it. This will allow you to
refer to the SMTP Server Account settings from the R:Mail Plugin
command parameters.

If any changes are made to your R:Mail SMTP Server Accounts, the new
configuration file must be moved once again into the folder location
where the R:Mail Plugin resides. Otherwise, R:Mail 3.0 will not
recognize the changes.

R:Mail provides the option to create a log for all email messages. A
separate log file is created for every R:BASE session that launches R:Mail.

John
