Just a little more info...   I removed all the code having to do with my functions, creating an external test form that has an alphablend setting of 1 in Form Properties.  The On After Start EEP has these commands:   PROPERTY RBASE_FORM alphablend 'false' EDIT USING selections RETURN   (selections is just another form called by this form.  The 'selections' form works every time if you don't set alphablend on in the Form Properties.  The behavior is the same...the form stays invisible until [ESC] is pressed, then comes into view and closes.  For all the world, it looks like the Alphablend checkbox in Form Properties of External Forms stops the running of the On After Start EEP.   Thanks for any help.   Ted     Ted Lienhard CNE NCT Golden Valley Consulting
