I have need to capture data from several sources, such as scanners,
analog devices, PLC's etc. Years ago, I could read RS323 serial
ports with Basic and would like some method to do so with Rbase.
I would like to avoid using a third party software package to read the
data, write to a text file and then import into Rbase. Using external
text files is limited in real time applications and error trapping.
I use key board wedge barcode scanners extensively with Rbase, but
those are limited to only one input per PC/Thin client and also require
form input fields. I would like to be able to read data from several
inputs without forms, such as I used to do with serial ports.
Does any one currently use Rbase in such a manner that data is obtained
via USB or serial inputs. (Other than key board wedge) I would be very
interested in how you approached the issue. If there have been DLL or
plugins developed, I would be interested in purchasing them if they meet
my requirements.
