Ok, Bernie - I think since so many of us are mulling this over thinking how strange this is, that perhaps your RB1 file is corrupted.
Have you tried just unloading the structure and data for the one table to a new database to see if it works there? And if it does, I'd do an UNLOAD/RELOAD of your database.
