Clive,
You would not use the V8 ODBC driver to connect to another database. You
use the other database's ODBC driver. For instance, you have stated that
you
were successful in connecting to the MYOB file with Excel. If that worked,
you should be able to connect to the MYOB with V8. Go to Utilities,
Connect
to a Data Source, select the Machine Data Source tab and you should see the
MYOB ODBC driver listed. It would be the same on you used with Excel.
So unless I misunderstand your email, it should work fine.
However....
If you are trying to connect to a V8 database from MYOB, then you would
need Oterro. The native ODBC drivers that come with 7.X are only for
Rbase to Rbase connections. (I am assuming that V8 is the same) One
must get Oterro if they are wanting to connect from a non-Rbase program
to a Rbase database.

am trying to connect to a MYOB data source via a System DSN with no
success.
I am using a Toshiba laptop that has an Intel Centrino Duo processor with
2GB of memory running Vista Business. I can connect to the same data
source
in Excel 2007 via MS Query with no problems.
Using either the latest RRBYW14 or a database with no data and only one
table defined I have the same lack of result. Utilities>Connect SQL Data
Source... allows me to select the data source under the Machine Data
Source
tab. When I then try to select tables via Utilities>Attach SQL Database
Tables I get the list of tables but all tables show "MYOB." before the
table
name, unlike in Excel where just the table name, as listed in the MYOB
data
dictionary, is shown. Choosing a table and clicking Attach does nothing -
what am I doing wrong?
