I had a very strange thing happen with a compiled 7.6 app being run on a vista machine.  The installation went fine, then the files were updated...but the old files were the ones that ran.  So I then ran the shortcut with the "run as administrator" box checked...all worked fine-all the files were updated correctly and the proper version of the program ran.

Then I ran it again without checking "as administrator", which should have worked as there were no folders being created, etc.  Surprise!  The OLD files ran...after being overwritten!

Here's the really strange thing.  As a part of getting to the bottom of this problem, I deleted every instance of the application from the hard drive and started over.  Ran the installer "as administrator"-only the lastest version of the program was on the hard drive.  Ran program as administrator...everything worked perfectly.  So I tried running the program by simply double-clicking the shortcut (pointing to the correct location-confirmed)...the OLD forms came up again!  These forms were replaced in the new version.

Summary:  Ran program as administrator...no problems.  Ran program normally...old version of program (which had been removed and deleted) ran.

Does vista keep previously deleted files in an index?  Perhaps a "stateful backup" feature is hiding an old copy somewhere...I don't know.

Any ideas out there??

All the best,
Ted
