So, in plain English, I must avoid all futher updates, including the

I guess you didn't read the first paragraph in its entirety.
Here it is ...
---
The last released update of R:BASE for DOS 7.6 (Build: 7.6.4.30909)
is as good as it can get and should be fully compatible with latest
available update of R:BASE 7.6 for Windows (Build: 7.6.4.30919).

You may interpret this in any way you can to your heart's content.

FWIW ...
The last released update of R:BASE for DOS 7.6 (Build: 7.6.4.30909)
is as good as it can get and should be fully compatible with latest

Currently, there are no plans on R:Horizon to continue mucking with
R:BASE 7.6 for DOS (Build: 7.6.4.30909), unless we feel otherwise.
The last update of DOS was released as a gesture to include engine
level fixes/enhancements along with a few requested settings and
functions.
Enjoy the last released update of R:BASE for DOS 7.6, and IMHO,
plan to jump on the bandwagon of Windows world as soon as you can.
