In a similar offering from the early 80's, I drove 3 hours to listen to
a two hour presentation showcasing the amazing features of Rbase and to
get my FREE copy of Rbase, the one in the blue plastic "bucket." Even
though I considered myself a very small time developer, I ended up
creating three applications for which the customers ended up buying the
multi user versions.

Back in the middle 80's Microrim sent an offer to all the accountants in

North America. R:Base 2.1 for $145. At the time I was fighting reports
using dBase III+, and as soon as I saw that the report generator had
more than two levels of sub totaling and that I could put real text on
the subtotal rather than *sub total* I jumped. There was a really steep
learning curve for me out in the boonies, but one of the contractors
working on the main frame knew SQL and got me going. Never looked back.
