FWIW, making the official SAP (Software Assurance Plan) announcement
wasn't an overnight deal. This plan, now in action, was thoroughly

2. You mentioned a discount on SA when we purchase the product.
a. Does the SA that was bought at time of purchase take effect
after the first year??
Yes. As you receive a full year of product updates, in the form of bug
fixes and enhancements requests, with the initial purchase, a purchase
including a Software Assurance Plan will take effect after the first
year.
b. Since we all purchased the product prior to SA being announced
do we get a discount for the first time if we buy now??
Yes. All users who purchase a Software Assurance Plan will receive a
15% discount for coverage encompassing all of their licensed products.
This discount is available to all R:BASE Technologies, Inc. users who
purchased software for the past year!
3. Some other products give free upgrade rights or additional discounts
when the next major release is available if you have SA. Is this also
true for RBTI products??
Funny you mentioned that.
Now that we have announced the SAP (Software Assurance Plan), we are
already working on a PAP (Premium Assurance Plan) that will provide
an automatic upgrade to the next major release or a deeply discounted
upgrade price for upgrading to that next level, whatever works best.
This would further help to flatten the feast/famine aspects of the
software, and will not be different from any other software houses
with such plans already in effect.
