Up until now I have not had a need to secure our db files share on our LAN
locally. It contains the database files, some eeps, pictures, and the
compiled app files. The users have a shortcut to their respective compiled
apps to a mapped drive.

Well, yesterday someone deleted one of the compiled apps. Thank goodness for
backups but it created some panic.

I was thinking of a good way to secure the share and allow the proper access
and was not sure on a good strategy while not upsetting the compiled apps. I
am curious on how the best way to secure the files would be and am asking
for advice.

I was thinking I could audit the folder but that would not take care of the
problem. The only thing that makes sense is to deny the users delete rights
but I am not sure if that will conflict with anything.

Any ideas you can share would be appreciated.

TIA

Dan Goldberg
