Tom,

Although it's been said, many times, many ways, "Look for a stray
rbengine80.dll."

(With apologies to one of those old-time crooners ... Bing?)

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Odd V8 error message

I have V8 on three machines Work, Home, and Laptop and use all three
machines for development. All have the 1212 update and did the index fix
several months ago. The three days ago the Laptop popped up the error
message " R:Base 5.5 or older databases must be converted. (2967)"
followed by "This command is currently unsupported, (1120)" then goes no
further. I can get out of V8 and the rest of the non R:base software
runs just fine. The exact same current databases run just fine on the
the Work and Home machines. Databases are moved between machines using a
memory stick. The only databases are stuff I wrote, all in V8. When I
connect to RRBYW14 on the Laptop, it runs just fine. New copies of the
current database fresh from Home or Work cause the error every time so I
figured it was something with V8 on the Laptop. Checked the Laptop with
various utilities finding nothing. Laptop is rarely on the Internet.
Deleted V8 then reinstalled and updated to 1212 ...same errors. Since I
cannot get past the error screens on the Laptop I have not been able to
run any rebuild commands. The Laptop probably needs a reformat since it
has been awhile, but that would not explain what has happened. The Home
and Work copies just chug along with no problems. Any ideas or explanations?
