Hi Razzak

I set the LineFeed to ^ because it was easier for the user to
put in the text.

I will look at #14 this afternoon.

Thanks
Marc

I am working on a form in 7.6 .

I look up canned text from a table that is in a Note field. This text can
have blank lines between paragraphs. Then this text is added to a DB Meno
for a note field on my main form to make form letters. The blank lines
stay between the paragraphs.

When I change the note filed to Varchar on the main form I loose the blank
lines and get ^^ instead of the blank lines. ^^ if my linefeed character.

I tried changing to Rich Text for the varchar field but I still get ^
instead of blank lines.

Is there some setting or property command I am missing?

Marc,

Check the default "LINEEND" character setting.

SHOW CHARACTERS at the R> prompt will reveal the current settings.

That should give you some blues clues ...

In addition, take a look at the entire RRBYW14 application included with
R:BASE 7.6 for Windows and see how things are lined up there in forms and
custom letters (reports) based on VARCHAR data type.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
