Karen,

 

You can change all the fields at one time by clicking on the first
field, hold the shift key, then click on all other fields.  When done,
just right click and choose on focus and the color you want to use.

Aha!  Background color when focused -- so we don't have use an eep
anymore.   If there is no form-wide cursor change, then I'll have to
make 400 changes!    Wish there was a keyboard sequence macro I could
set up ....

I cant answer the question, but I can tell how I do in 7.6 I click the
on focus background colour to set a custom colour to the field  in
focus. In design mode click on the object use second tab Effects to
manipulate the background colour for the field in focus
