I don't want to try task manager except as a last resort.

Thank you, Claudine. It may well just be one of those "time to shut down the computer' things. I know I can do the CTRL-ALT-DEL thing, but I'd rather have R:Base close the module and disconnect, than trust it to Windows, if I can. Joan

Try task manager | Applications | End task

CTRL-ALT-DEL or right-click on bottom strip of your desktop to get to task
manager.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Not a Developer Question, but need some heavy duty
help
to close Report Designer

Using latest update of v 7.6 for Windows XP, I was trying to save a report to a text file and opted for preview. When I closed the preview, I appeared to be out of Report Designer. I ran the report to the screen to an .rtf file and discovered that wouldn't work for me, so I went back in and chose a regular text file and chose to open it. It opened in Notepad. When I closed it, only >R and Database Explorer showed at the bottom of the screen. I tried to disconnect but got an error message :"close report/designer first". Using the Help pages I couldn't find anything that would work. Now I can't close the database, nor could I copy it to safeguard it, as it would not copy an open database. How can I get the report designer to close so I can disconnect the database? Only one cursor show up: SQL_CUR35, which I can not drop or close.

Thank you for your help.

Joan P.
