Copy Database yielded -ERROR-Cannot copy connected database c:\path\databasename.rb1 (2941), plus a little progress window opens up saying 'please wait' but nothing happens.

The app is listed as 'running' in the task manager.

Unable to find any other way, I opted for the task manager to end the job and sent the error report. After a little while, I got R:Base to restart and the data tables seemed intact and I could run the report to the screen. Running to the printer yielded undesirable results (I chose to open the document that was created. It opened in Notepad. I Exited Notepad, and the application hung up exactly the same way as before, this time giving me "Access violation at address 0098D8A2 in module 'RBG76.EXE'. Read of address 000009C" There was no way to close Report/Label Designer Module.

You may be confident of CTRL-ALT-DEL taking you in to task manager
without changing or doing anything.

Joan refers to the list of running applications on the "Applications"
Tab; the status for each running application is listed. If your app is
listed as "Not Responding", it may be your only option is to hit the
"End Task" button.

But before you do that, certainly look into the possibility of copying
the open database, as suggested in the subsequent RBASE-L
correspondent's email.

I don't want to try task manager except as a last resort.

Joan,

But is Task Manager status "not responding"?

Thank you, Claudine. It may well just be one of those "time to shut down the computer' things. I know I can do the CTRL-ALT-DEL thing, but I'd rather have R:Base close the module and disconnect, than trust it to Windows, if I can. Joan

Try task manager | Applications | End task

CTRL-ALT-DEL or right-click on bottom strip of your desktop to get to task
manager.

to close Report Designer

Using latest update of v 7.6 for Windows XP, I was trying to save a report to a text file and opted for preview. When I closed the preview, I appeared to be out of Report Designer. I ran the report to the screen to an .rtf file and discovered that wouldn't work for me, so I went back in and chose a regular text file and chose to open it. It opened in Notepad. When I closed it, only >R and Database Explorer showed at the bottom of the screen. I tried to disconnect but got an error message :"close report/designer first". Using the Help pages I couldn't find anything that would work. Now I can't close the database, nor could I copy it to safeguard it, as it would not copy an open database. How can I get the report designer to close so I can disconnect the database? Only one cursor show up: SQL_CUR35, which I can not drop or close.

Thank you for your help.
