Doing PDFs through V8 is pretty simple, but file size is huge. Example:
a dense 12 page report through V8 = 800K, the exact same report through
PrimoPDF = 53K. Another simple 1 page V8 report = 765K and PrimoPDF was
15K. All four files pop right up in the R:PDF viewer. To learn more, I
am using the PDF Print Help example which has many pipes associated to
it. Have tried dropping and changing pipes such as 'Encrypt_File'
without any real size changes. Is there a weight attached to each
'OPTION Parameter'? My assumption is PrimoPDF is pretty basic (no
encryption or password option used) and all the pipes in the V8 example
each add some overhead load. Looked through available docs and older
list server items, but do not find much on this. My plan is to simply
start editing out pipes and see what the result is. I want the files
encrypted and passworded so V8 is the way, but how do I get smaller
files?
