Greetings all.

I'm having a problem starting the Help Index or Help Search, either by clicking
on the Help menu item or by using the CTRL+F3 or Shift-F9, or by using the ?
icon. Any method trying to start the help system crashes Rbase. I get a
windows dialog box saying R:Base Turbo V-9 for Windows has encountered a
problem and will close.

Problem occurs in 7.1, 7.5, and Turbo V-8. 7.5 and Turbo V-8 are the latest
updates, i.e., 8.0.20.30315 for Turbo V-8. Updates installed the help files
in the correct program directory, and the DLLs are in windows/system32 and not
duplicated elsewhere on the computer.

Everything else works OK, I can create a form, edit tables, run the tutorials,
etc. I can call up the .CHM and .PDF files individually OK.

It's been a couple of weeks since I've looked at the help topics but they
worked then.

I think this is related to installing XP service pack 3 and other security
updates, and maybe IE 7, which occurred in the last couple of days. I've set
Firefox as the default program for .HTML and then set IE as the default.
Didn't make any change, Rbase still crashes.

I've reinstalled the updates since the Windows updates.

Anybody run across this? Any words of wisdom?

Any help would be appreciated.

Paul
