Technically, you can import your XML file with UTF-8 character
set as VARBIT column(s), and work your way to achieve your goal.
Currently, R:BASE engine does not support UTF-8/multi-byte code.
We never had a need or such request by our customers.
Having said that, you may submit an enhancement request for
R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (32/64) at: http://www.rbase.com/rbg9rdcc
