I found a nifty(and cheap) program called zipbackup.

http://www.zipbackup.com/

1. It compresses using standard zip format. So any pc can open the archives.
2. burns straight to dvd/cd
3. e-mail notifcations
4. command line
5. does all the types of backups (incremental, differental, etc)
6. command line execution from a batch file. So I can close the database and
kick the users automatically before backup,

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Backup R:Base Data

I am curious what sw/hw combinations folks are using to backup R:Base data.

In my 4.5 application I used a command file to
a) disconnect from R:base
b) backup to diskettes using a compression utility
c) reconnect
d) Pack the DB

My compression utility doesn't work with XP so I need to update the backup
routine
and probably the media as well. I typically maintain 4 backup copies; 3
generations
on-site with a fourth done weekly for off-site.

Even with all the enhancements, I don't anticipate the capacity requirement
being
greater than 10mb; even if I backup data and structure.
