I read your comments and analysis with great interest.

Technically for a static one-page report or the data for each
separate page, based on a page-break, the page header would be
be proper logic to do it all as you have suggested. However, a
report with multiple breaks on the same page will still need
the traditional reset variables, etc.

Of course, using the DB Calcs instead, you will never have to
worry about anything.

FYI, there is a sample report included in 2009 SAT applications
that demonstrate the exact technique.
