Tip of the Day #2: Upgrading to R:BASE eXtreme 9.0

Upgrading from R:BASE 7.6 for Windows to R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (32):
Did you know that there is absolutely to conversion required when
converting your existing, fully functional, normalized R:BASE 7.6
for Windows database(s) and application(s) to R:BASE eXtreme 9.0
(32)? All you need is to CONNECT the database and you are good
to go.
Upgrading from R:BASE Turbo V-8 to R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (64):
Before attempting to connect to your R:BASE database, you will
need to follow the instructions below to ensure a proper/smooth
conversion. If database errors occur at any point during the
conversion, check the integrity of the database files using
the working R:BASE Turbo V-8 version.
-- If there is no database OWNER defined
01. Install and launch R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (64)
02. Navigate to your database directory using the "Change Current
Folder" button (bottom left corner, folder icon with a green
arrow)
03. Go to the R> Prompt window (third button from the left on the
Tool Bar, or press [Ctrl]+[R])
04. At the R> Prompt, type: SET MULTI OFF , then press [Enter]
05. At the R> Prompt, type: SET STATICDB OFF , then press [Enter]
06. At the R> Prompt, type: TURBO dbname V9 , then press [Enter]
07. At the R> Prompt, type: CONNECT dbname , then press [Enter]

01. Install and launch R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (64)
02. Navigate to your database directory using the "Change Current

arrow)
03. Go to the R> Prompt window (third button from the left on the

04. At the R> Prompt, type: SET MULTI OFF , then press [Enter]
05. At the R> Prompt, type: SET STATICDB OFF , then press [Enter]
06. At the R> Prompt, type: TURBO dbname V9 IDENTIFIED BY ownername
and then press [Enter]
07. At the R> Prompt, type: CONNECT dbname , then press [Enter]
These steps will convert your existing R:BASE Turbo V-8 database
to be used exclusively by R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (64)!
