Okay, whatever you call it, something is happening. If I didn’t think so myself, I’d just trust one of my best friends from High School, College, and my wedding - he was my Best Man - who is now a BIG TIME researcher at LSU in Environmental Science. He’s big enough that he was in charge of chemically assessing the flood waters in NOLA after Katrina for whatever might be in there. Dude is a natural-born biological genius with no political axe to grind either way; he’s a scientist. He’s been telling me for more than 2 decades that something was happening, but that exactly how it would happen and what would be the impact are valid areas of discussion, debate, and research for the science community. The problem in the debate is that our “leaders” don’t have the education (or perhaps the intellectual wherewithal) to actually understand the basic science and we, the people, are all accustomed to having most of what we want when we want it, with the only consequence we notice being the price in current dollars, US.
In my experience, he’s never been wrong about anything biological, from oceans to atmosphere to pathogens, and even things like, “Man, I’m tellin’ you, this new girl, Madonna, is gonna’ be big.” Now, all that said, he and would have a helluva’ good time cruisin’ around in that ‘Stang! (Well, as long as the tunes were rockin’.) I once owned a ’67 Dodge Dart GT convertible, packin’ it before I sold it with a 340, bored over .080. Man, that sucker would flat get it when you stomped on the pedal! He and I used to have some kinda’ fun in that oh-so-cool “Miss Jane” ride. (Miss Jane, in the Beverly Hillbillies, almost always drove a Chrysler convertible.)
