Mark,
In a persons' business or corporation, there are core elements that "must
be maintained" for the business to function at all.
We know these things to be the utilities used to keep the business operating
and the communications to maintain contact with the source of the revenue
the company HAS to have to function.
If the internal workings (the machinery) of the business are dependent on
software for the orderly progression of the enterprise, you can't very well
defend a position of letting your machinery limp along on damaged or worn
out parts.
I would in fact direct your attention to most organizations most hated piece
of the puzzle, the office copier.
The service contract on the least of these contraptions is usually over a
hundred bucks a month just to insure the damn things keep going.
Most people would shudder at the thought of having the copier contract
expire or stopped because of the horrific cost heaped on you when they go on
the fritz.
The small amount of money required to keep current the maintenance (SAP)
piece of the machinery is easily returned in saved time (uptime) and reduced
effort (fabricating workarounds) as to have the likely effect of no cost at
all.
For any of you holding back because of the economy, I declare the recession
officially over as yesterday I purchased all new socks and underwear (which
are one of the things men don't buy when times are tough).
Mike

I could not help but respond to this. RBTI has and I am sure will continue
to do the best they can, and I know we all appreciate it.
However in the rest of the world budgets are an issue this year, and we all
have to live with it. Its tough out there for a lot of businesses. We see
it every day in what we do.

Le sigh! Yes, I am all too painfully aware of that. My boss won't

To paraphrase Bill Clinton: "It's the economy."
I'm guessing I'll have to limp along until the money starts coming in
again.
Mike, that is a very good excuse that people can use.
Are they still paying the insurance for their building, maintenance of their
equipment, and most importantly the service contracts for their OTHER
product you mentioned in your original message?
Why not for R:BASE, if they are still using the product and if the product
is a vital part of their business?
No need to reply, because I know the answer.
Regardless of what they decide, we will continue to do what we do BEST, that
is to support those who appreciate what we do and bring'em the R:BASE they
have always wanted.
"It's the economy." doesn't go with our way of running business. I
personally don't believe in that nonsense. Nothing has changed at RBTI --
just look at what we have been doing and what we have delivered, regardless
of the excuse of economy. Have you seen any slow down or interruption here
at RBTI?
Go figure ...
Very Best R:egards,
Razzak.
