To further explain, I log into a program called forticlient which I have
been told is the VPN. I then click on Remote Desktop Connection to get
to my computer at the office. I use my password and I am in. That is
the extent of my knowledge on the connection. I do use access but not
much with forms. I still access 6.5 as well and never have it go slow
like this.

Karen, I remember the discussion you related to. My other forms in 7.6
do not seem to be this slow from here. They also have some popups.

Jim,

Some form controls require a lot more data (or slower, non-indexed data)
to populate the drop-down or pop-up.

A much better solution for remote access for R:BASE is something like
logmein.com, or gotomypc.com, or even remote desktop, although these tie
up a computer at the other end.

The strange thing is other forms do not have this problem. That is why
I asked because I thought it might be something in the settings or the
form itself I need to change. Maybe I need to bring up just one field
in that particular table since the second field is rather large. I will
play with it some more.

Bummer.... VPNs and file-server database do not mix. Same would happen
if you were using Access, Filemaker, any non-client-server database.
Performance is bad because the entire database has to be sent back and
forth over your IP connection. We've had this discussion a few times
on this forum, the last time it was asked by me because one of my
biggest clients complains that they simply cannot work from home over
their company's VPN.

You aren't using a VPN to access it, are you?

Karen

I have an order form in the latest 7.6 that runs very slow when I try
using it from my remote location at my house. Are there settings either
on my computer or within RBASE that will help overcome this? It happens
with my detail lines that have auto popup &EEP fields.

Another POPUP on the header does not have this problem.
