I would first try it in Task Manager to make sure it is NOT needed.  I spend a 
lot of time with people that disable the wrong ones.

 

Then MSCONFIG or “HiJack This”!  But be very careful!! w/hijack you can kill 
the wrong one. Then CCleaner to clean the reg after.  JM.02  Make sure 
everything works.

 

 

Also please be aware that CCleaner can disrupt MS-7 menu’s etc.  Use with 
caution!  I have not narrowed down the ill effect, but I bet they will before 
me ;)  I have had issues with it in the Beta version and toned down the check 
boxes.

 

Also are you sure it is not a memory card issue?  I am actually servicing a 
laptop 300 miles north of me for that very reason.   I hope it’s just a memory 
chip.  X-fingers   Slow boot up,  15 minutes so they say.

Had a user complain about speed on his system. When I check his running

processes, there appear to be more than there needs to be.

 

I can't remember where you enable/disable startup processes.
