Tried to open a large report to edit and got a "Stream Read Error" message. What is this and how do I fix it? Got the same message from a backup DB. Restarted V8 and computer, did reload. Other reports come right up for editing.
Tom, Opening a Form, Label, or Report in a designer, the appropriate designer first reads everything accordingly. During this process, if any control and/or string cannot be read, a "Stream Read Error" is generated. Your best option is to find the last good database to bring back the good report and replace the corrupted report. That is the most easiest and time saving solution. Having learned that lesson, make a habit of saving all your forms, labels, and reports as a backup. To automate the entire backup of all your database(s) (local or on the network), take a look at R:BASE Total Backup! R:BASE Total Backup http://www.RTotalBackup.com If for some reason you cannot find a good backup, you may send the .rpt and .lob file to mailto:[email protected] for review.
