Mike & Karen, Thanks for jump starting my brain. I had a blank row in the drop down list and it always sorted to the bottom and since the variable was null it was selected.

The only way this is not working for you, is if your ComponentID is invalid, which you should get an error message in that event. Further, once the proerty command is sorted out correctly, in a combobox, the value of item ZERO is going to show in the combobox even prior to dropdown and show as highlighted after the dropdown is selected.
